Clever Designs by Jann .. Build A Line Challenge Master Class 2016 .. Part 2

WELCOME BACK TO MY  “COUNTRY CHIC” JOURNEY

http://www.bsueboutiques.com/

Today is February 26th and this is our 2nd Blog Hop for the Build A Line 2016 Challenge .. Our next Blog Hop will be on Friday, April 1 and I will be revealing my new Country Chic Line on that day ..

I have learned more about myself as a Designer in this class & finally understand what it takes to build a jewelry line.  I want to thank  our instructor Brenda Sue Lansdowne of B’sue Boutiques for showing me the ropes. Brenda is an outstanding designer, business owner, instructor and mentor .. Thank you again Brenda for this journey ..

The list below is a few of the discussions we have had ..

  • Design Influences
  • Collages
  • What type of maker are you, Hobbyist, Maker or Designer
  • Your Desire to move up or down in jewelry making

I subscribe to a magazine called Cowboys & Indians thinking I would find a Designer that I could connect with .. I’m still searching for that connection.

I love the designer Miriam Haskell .. Her style is over the top Gorgeous .. I have made a few necklaces that were influenced by her designs .. Take a look below ……

I love collages .. I use PicsArt and PhotoGrid to do my editing .. I’m still learning ..  Examining my previous pictures to my current pictures I have gotten better .. I still have problems with lighting .. If I only had more hours in the day or if I could split myself into two .. Ha Ha !!!!!!

Here are 2 different Collages that were made recently ..

cross necklace set 1

heart angel black necklace 2

During the month of February we had a long discussion on what we felt we are as a jewelry maker .. A Hobbyist, Maker or Designer ..

  • A HOBBYIST is someone content with dabbling and doing their own thing.
  • The Jewelry MAKER is more serious about the business end of things. They may very actively honing their craft and experimenting with ‘what works’.
  • The Jewelry DESIGNER has developed a brand and a recognizable, cohesive look.   They have done all the things that the hobbyist and the maker have done

I started out as a Hobbyist, making jewelry for myself, family, friends, contest and a few sales .. I have developed myself into a Designer but with still a small amount of Maker in me ..

Another question was asked .. “Do you have the desire to convert up or down” .. It’s taken me several years to get where I’m at and I sure don’t want to go backwards at this time in my life .. It only get’s better .. I sale my jewelry at Etsy, FaceBook and Pinterest ..

Below are a few pictures on what’s going on at my design table .. sorry I can’t show you any completed pieces right now .. stay tuned in for the next Blog Hop on April 1 ..

Here are a  few components I’m using for my Country Chic Line .. yes I do have more

September Change It Up Blog Hop

Howdy everyone .. Today is September 25th and it’s Reveal Time for our Vintage Flair Change It Up Blog Hop ..

Let’s catch up on a few things before I reveal my designs ..

My Etsy Shop is up and running and I have almost 200 items posted ..  If you haven’t visited my Etsy Shop the link below will take you to it .. Thanks so much !

https://www.etsy.com/shop/CleverDesignsbyJann

I hope to roll out a fall design within the next couple of weeks so be on the look out for all of those beautiful fall colors ..

My hubby “Don” and I took a short trip to Big Bear a couple of weeks ago .. We went to a few flea markets and a car show and we even took our sweet Abby with us .. what a fun beautiful day ..

Lunch time with Don and Abby ..

big bear

This old car really took me by surprise .. does it remind you of a TV program ?

.. Moving On To The Reveal ..

The components shown below were selected for us to use by Brenda Sue Lansdowne our leader at B’sue Boutiques Creative Group .. Aren’t they GREAT !  We were challenged to create a jewelry design using only these components.  The challenge did have a  twist .. we were to use it in a way that we normally wouldn’t .. you could cut it up, use the back side or upside down .. let your imagination take off ..

Well my imagination was having problems so I stuck with the good old traditional ..

http://www.bsueboutiques.com

These are the products and tools I used on my designs .. Iced Enamels, Perfect Pearls and Daimond Glaze ..

supplies

.. Drum Roll ..

Using the largest component of the four selections I decided to make a vintage cuff .. The component was beant in the form of a cuff bracelet and spray painted white .. Ivory Ice Enamel was applied over the top of the spray paint .. I fell in love with the rose cameo offered at B’sue Boutiques and applied the same technique on the cameo but used different colors .. B’sue brass chain, rosary chain and a heart locket complete this Vintage Cuff Bracelet ..

Vintage Cuff Bracelet

Vintage Cuff Bracelet

I couldn’t do just one challenge piece so it was back to the design table to challenge myself again .. The component was beant in the form of a cuff .. Spray paint and Perfect Pearls was used for the coloring .. A B’sue Ring, brass chain, beads and pearls complete this Vintage Swag Bracelet ..

slave bracelet

Vintage Swag Bracelet

Ok .. just one more .. How could I pass on the heart stamping ..  Spray paint and Perfect Pearls was used for the coloring .. Attached to the center of the heart is a B’sue cameo with rhinestone’s around it and some sweet baby roses with leafs  .. Vintage pearls, rhinestone rondelles, glass beads and gold-plated chain complete this elegant necklace set ..

vintage flair heart necklace set

Thank you for taking a stroll thru my blog .. Below is a list of other blog hoppers who are participating I hope you will hop along with me ..

The End Of Summer and What’s In Store For September

Hi everyone .. Hope y’all had a great summer .. Wow was it hot in California  .. We have a huge water shortage and are required to reduce our water by at least 35% each month, which has been hard  .. Hopefully we will get rain this winter to fill up our lakes and dams ..

In August we kept cool by going to the Kern River .. It’s another one of our favorite camping spots .. The river was down but still enough to play in and keep cool ..

My son and his family who live in Cedar Park TX came for a 3 week visit .. I just can’t get enough love from my grandkids ..  Here is a picture of Jake and Madi and Megan and Grant .. they all started school last week ..

Build A Line Challenge From B’sue Boutiques .. Clever Designs by Jann .. Part Three

.. Welcome Back To My Journey ..

Adventures In The Sea

Today is March 20th and the end of our Design Challenge and Blog Hop .. My adventures will still continue designing different sea related jewelry and more .. I enjoyed this experience and learned different things from Brenda Sue Lansdowne and the rest of the members who participated in this challenge ..

Several changes were made to my design line since Blog I and II .. originally I named my jewelry by individual pieces .. WHAT WAS I THINKING .. now each series level has a name .. so simple and easy for me to remember .. Because of this change some jewelry pieces had to be moved to different levels .. sorry for any confusion ..

My first 3 Levels are my bread and butter and will range from $15.00 – $50.00 ..  Levels 4 – 9 will be in a higher range from $50.00 – $250.00 ..

ARE YOU READY TO SEE MY FINAL REVEAL .. LET’S GET STARTED …….

Level I Series .. Adventure Earrings

Several new Adventure Earrings washed ashore for my final reveal ..
